During quarantine I have discovered TikTok. My favorite videos on TikTok are short clips of a guy named Lester Green. He goes by the name Beetlejuice which is named from a little person in the movie Beetlejucie. Lester was born with microcephaly which stunted his growth as he is 4foot 3 inches. He has gained an audience because he is funny, and while he is short and many people think this may make him depressed he keeps a positive outlook on life. This can be seen in the TikTok above where he states his height is “6′ 9”. He also cannot control his bowl movements as shown above he wears diapers, but similar to his height, he jokes that he does not have accidents instead claims “somebody shit in his pants.” he didn’t do it. If you are looking for a good laugh take a look at some of his videos, he was a regular appearance on the Howard Stern show for some years and works for a company by the name Jolly Dwarfs. He has not let his disability negatively impact his life, in-fact he denies even having a disability at all.

This comparison is the difference computer generated imagery (CGI) has made in modern film. First we see an example of a scene from 1968 where they filmed monkeys for the opening scene of A Space Odyssey, and the second is a music video for an artist Lil Dicky. He takes us through all of the ecosystems on earth trying to persuade people to protect its beauty by showing all the animals we live with. His video is completely computer generated once he gets into his story time about the world, and it really shows off the possibilities of CGI. While the animals in his videos are not the best example of CGI it shows how much more can be done with CGI rather than previous filming techniques. When you watch the monkey scene from 1968 it is kind of funny just for the reason that you can tell the monkeys are just people wearing the suits. So from these two examples the monkey scene was the best of its time and the music video Earth is more of just a comedy video, which is more entertaining to watch from my opinion.

2001: A Space Odyssey was very boring to watch in 2020, but when it came out in 1968 it was way ahead of its time. Renowned writers have estimated it took about 2400 hours to write the script for the movie which I find hard to believe because there was barley any conversation in the movie. The impressive aspect of the film was the centrifuge that was used to film the gravity effects for the movie. One scene that really showed this off was when one of the astronauts was exercising in the space station to make it look like he was feeling the gravity and staying on the walls of the ship all they did was rotate the set around on the centrifuge which is obvious to us today but revolutionary at the time and for sci-fi movies to come. We see this idea copied in films like inception but since technology has advanced so much for example CGI the movie seem very outdated. Since the movie was filmed using motion control cameras and props they were limited on the speed of scenes and therefore the movie went by very slow. For example a portal landing back on the ship took like 2 minutes in real time should only take 10 seconds tops to keep the audience entertained today. Although they were using very primitive filming technology it was the best at the time and they wanted to show off how ahead of its time the production quality for the movie really was. While the movie is not impressive by todays standards it is amazing to look back and see how fast technology is evolving and complex film is becoming.

Joe Exotic and all the events within Tiger king has not only gained them a huge fan base, but it has also prompted some fans to take extreme measures. In addition to having the case of Carole Baskin killing her husband opened, reporters are asking President Trump if he would give Joe Exotic a presidential pardon.

While the pardon might not go through as there are bigger problems on the presidents hands with covid-19 people feel for Joe Exotic.

So in support of Joe Exotic I have decided to grow my best handle bar mustache. From a man that once ran for president he has hit rock bottom serving 22 years in jail. So while we work from home and do online classes, I say we should grow facial hair like Joe to show him our support!

The hot topic on most social media over the past couple weeks has been the Netflix series Tiger King. The show is about big cats, but the part that keeps people watching is the criminal aspect of the show. Between the allegations against joe exotic and Carole Baskin killing her husband people love making memes out of the show and it has gained a huge audience. Additionally its airing has caused them to reopen the investigation against Carole Baskin allegedly killing her husband in the hopes that being in the news somebody with new information will help the case. Carole Baskin really did Joe Exotic dirty and my belief is her caging tigers is just as bad as Joe breeding them, she can let them go into the wild but chooses to keep them and profit off of them just the same.

Stump is a fun game I played stump Saturday from 10 am until about midnight. My wrist is so sore from swinging the hammer that it is hard to type this blog post. Stump is a really fun game I would recommend you try it if you have a chainsaw at home and feel like cutting down a tree to play.

We created two variations of the game.

The first variation is how the game is really played, you have to hit the other nails on the stump flush with the wood. If your nail is the last one standing you win. This was fun until people started reading alliances and teaming up… mostly on me so we created the second version.

This game is also really fun the goal of the second versions is to hit your own nail in flush to the wood first. This takes out the possibility of getting teamed up on and makes skill more of a factor fo who wins not cheating!

Overall very fun game 10/10
